In this uncurated and unconventional show, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center Members are invited to exhibit work of their choice. The show is intended to be a mashup of styles, mediums, and price points hung riotously throughout the gallery. Modest prizes and bragging rights will be awarded for “Founder’s Choice,” “Craftsmanship,” and “The Popular Vote.”

One House Project Exhibit is made up of panels created by artists and community members to pay tribute to ancestors’ or personal immigrant stories. Join us for the opening reception on Sunday, November 11, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. ArtWatch Collective brings together participants who have made a simple wood panel measuring 12-inches square on which to tell the story of one of their ancestors who came to this country from elsewhere, whether voluntarily or involuntarily. ArtWatch Collective will construct an underlying structure—a house—and attach the completed panels to the outside, covering it completely. Gallery hours are Monday - Saturday: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Join us for a panel discussion by artists who regularly blur the lines between “old” and “new",” making modern art on antiquated equipment, combining new as well as traditional processes, or whose work makes reference to art or history. We will gather on Wednesday, November 7, in the Gallery of Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Hyattsville, Maryland, for Past+Present: Artists Talk. The panel will be comprised of Pyramid Atlantic’s Private Studio Artists who will discuss how history or art informs contemporary ideas and works, as well as how modern technology affects ad influences artists. The meet-the-artists reception will be from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM in the Friendship Gallery of the Friendship Heights Village Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland. If you cannot make the receptions, stop by to see the show Mondays - Thursdays, between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM, Fridays from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, or on the weekends between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The exhibition will close on the morning of Sunday, March 4.

Opened in 2009, FSM is a handmade and craft market featuring over 30 new and returning vendors selling everything from art, handmade jewelry and soap to vintage bikes and cultural craft imports. FSM is the place to find unique treasures and support the local economy. FSM hosts free community activities such as yoga classes and kids story times; and serves as a venue for local organizations, musicians and non-profits to reach new audiences.
Pyramid Atlantic Art Center presents the 3rd Annual 10x10 Invitational, exhibiting artwork by over 85 regional and national artists. Pictured here is All That Glitters, a mixed media work featuring fibers, specialty papers, and acrylic paint. The other entry is a gouache and acrylic painting entitled, That Was My LAST Nerve. This exhibition comes just in time for original holiday gifts, each artwork can be purchased for $50, with all proceeds benefiting Pyramid's core programs. The show runs through December 17, 2017.
The third annual Kensington Fall Festival will take place on the quaint streets of Old Town Kensington, Maryland. East Howard Avenue and Armory Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic while families from the DMV are invited to explore the community, enjoy the offerings of local food trucks, see live music and kids performances on two stages, and shop from over 80 local vendors of unique, handmade items. Pyramid Atlantic Art Center will be a part of the Gateway Open Studios Tour on Saturday, May 13, from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. I am located in Studio 2A, across from the door that opens to the parking lot behind the building. Over 100 individual artists, galleries, and cultural venues throughout the Gateway Arts District will be open to the public, offering behind the scenes access. Visitors are invited to meet the artists, see their work, and explore their studios. The event is free and all are welcome.
